The Pennhurst Group, LLC central administrative office is located in Exton, Pennsylvania, and has employed and proudly trained many individuals who have, in turn, established their own commercial corporations based predominately in the Philadelphia area within twenty miles of our central office (explaining why Philadelphia is a national hot bed of providers of services to the MR/DD community) to help provide healthcare services to the MR/DD healthcare sector nationwide.

Our roots go back so far that in the early 80's our medical director, Dr. Joseph Nowoslawski's staff contract company was awarded the original contract by Pennsylvania to help them in their compliance with the singular landmark court case, Halderman v Pennhurst and resolve a $50,000 monthly fine placed against the state of Pennsylvania by the Court. Many in the field describe that case as the one that "started it all". His efforts helped the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania resolve the legal issues as they pertained to medical services and the monthly fine was removed against the Commonwealth.

Pennhurst was the first and original organization that was selected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide specialist physician medical services for the Pennhurst Center and ultimately close the Pennhurst Center, located in Spring City, Pennsylvania.

Over the years our staff and physicians actually physically shut the lights off at many other large ICF's/MR's across the country as more fully outlined on our central webpage and resouce base, http://www.pennhurstgroup.com including the Hissom Center (Homeward vs. Hissom), North Princeton Center in New Jersey, Laconia Center in New Hampshire, and Embreeville Center in Pennsylvania.

As a result of these experiences our staff have over twenty years of experience networking with national experts in the field. Aside from the many consultants in this field that we have engaged our organization has a strong medical capacity that is helpful in providing psychiatric support services for Behavioral Support Plans. This additional medical background simply cannot be matched by a commercial corporation who simply tries to hire physicians. We have managed and provided a variety of services at large ICF's/MR long term facilities especially crisis contract staffing services and quality of care programs for years.

Pennhurst Group, LLC is a professional services firm and is familiar with survey requirements. Our survey support site, http://www.Lookbehind.com has been recruiting experts in the field of MR/DD for years and includes a listing of regulations for quick review.

Pennhurst Staff will work in conjunction with the Certification Unit of your state and facility administration to assess and assist in developing licensing and certification survey strategies that will achieve positive survey outcomes. We can review any required plans of correction and prepare for the revisit in many ways such as to:

1. Identify how corrective action will be accomplished for those clients found to have been affected by the deficient practice.
2. Describe how the facility will identify other residents having the potential to be affected by the same deficient practice.
3. Explain measures to be put into place or systemic changes made to ensure that the deficient practice will not recur.
4. Identify how the facility will monitor its corrective action to ensure the deficient practice is being corrected and will not recur; i.e., what program will be put into place to monitor the continued effectiveness of the systemic change.

Pennhurst is able to simply bring dozens of certified psychologists to your facility and produce hundreds of plans if required on a short "crisis" timeline. We prefer to have an opportunity to provide a system wide review of the current Behavioral Support Plans you have in place prior to any surveys so as to interface with existing psychology staff on a controlled basis.

Pennhurst is also available to provide interim or long term contract staffing of psychologists (including department chiefs) as well as submit for your review plans of departmental re-organization if required.
